Samsø - A FOSSIL FREE ISLAND WITH SØREN HERMANSEN

May 11, 2018

Søren Hermansen shares the incredible and still inspiring story of Samso, a small and peaceful island in Denmark, whose community came together and made real community change a reality. With modern technology we just need you to become a Søren Hermansen too to lead the energy revolution in your neighborhood and beyond. – SEYN

The island of Samsø, in Denmark, has shifted to 100% renewable energy in 10 years – a project led by local citizens, with an initial capital investment from the government. The 11 MW wind turbines are owned by local cooperatives and individuals. Besides the wind turbines, the island relies on solar energy, district heating from biomass and biodiesel production from rapeseed oil, in order to compensate for the CO2 emissions from the transport sector.
